Stop Spam From Ringing My Android

We don’t intercept your calls, we just work like voicemail – a smarter more secure version of voicemail. But without some extra setup your phone will still ring every time someone calls you, even spam callers. Most people don’t like this. They don’t want to be disturbed by nonsense calls. They only want their phone to ring if the caller is someone they know.

In this article we show you how to ensure that your phone only rings if the caller is a known contact (i.e. is in your Android’s contacts list). If the call is from an unknown number, your phone stays quiet, and we will handle the call and send you an AI summary about what happened.

Here’s how you set it up:

1) Upload your contacts to your whitelist:   To protect your phone, we need to know which numbers you consider safe. If you keep your phone contacts up-to-date, then this is a great list of who should be on your whitelist. Using our Captain’s log app you can upload all your contacts to your whitelist in a couple of seconds. (On the Settings page, tap on “Import Contacts”, see screenshot below)

* Our strict Privacy Policy guarantees that your contacts are never used for any other purpose or shared or sold to other parties.

2) Turn on Auto Sync:  While on the Settings page, toggle the “Auto Sync Contacts” option so that if you add new contacts, they are automatically added to your whitelist.

3) Open the Phone App Settings:  Open the Phone app on your Android device. It is located on the home screen or in the app drawer (it is the app you use to make phone calls). Tap on the three dots in the top-right corner of the app and select “Settings” from the drop-down menu.

4) Go to the “Block Numbers” page :   On the “Call Settings” page tap on the “Block numbers” option.

5) Turn on the Android feature called “Block unknown/private numbers”:   Find the “Block unknown/private numbers” option and slide right to turn it on.

OK, you are all done! Now your phone only rings when a known contact calls you. All other calls will be handled by our Pirate Voicemail, whether you’re in Answering-Machine Mode or Bouncer Mode (click here for more info ).
