OMG I’m such a huge fan that this is so flattering that Gizmodo wrote about the robot!
Note to Gizmodo readers! I told Andrew that he could post the telephone number in his article (no need to spell it out). I figured it would get out there anyway so he might as well use the digits. Please leave him alone. I am extremely grateful for his article.

Thanks Gizmodo and please check out the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/jollyrogertelephone
I have no idea how much longer my little WordPress site will last with all this traffic!
Roger
Found you via Gizmodo. Thank you for creating this! I can’t tell you how good it feels to fight back this menace!
Exactly! I love phones and think it’s a shame this horrible industry is killing landlines. And I felt so helpless saying “he hasn’t had this number in 16 years!! What is wrong with you people??”. Now I can just sit back and consume their time. Keep calling, scammers!
THANK YOU !!!!
Did you get one??
Possible to post a pre-recorded MP3 so we could play it from computer and set phone next to speaker? Love this.
Thanks. But aren’t there tons of soundboards on the internet that do that? Just relax, let the robot take the call.
Are you considering making this open source? I would find the inner workings quite interesting!
I really enjoy listening to the calls, thanks.
Yes! I think we need more of these robots around
And I have a bunch more calls. Not to mention all the calls today! Some of today’s calls should be telemarketers but most seem to be people just trying it out.
How about we make an iPhone and Android app that does this?
As far as I know, apps cannot access the talkpath. I’m still researching.
I found your article yesterday on Gizmodo showed it to all my coworkers. Funny enough I get a phone call from a telemarketer at 8 PM last night. Your robot performed perfectly and kept them on the phone for 15 whole minutes. The manager got on the phone at the end and actually threatened to add me to some high volume call list. Which is probably illegal for him to do. He even accused me of wasting his time! Which is quite ironic since he manages a team of people whose job is to waste other people’s time.
Oh just in time! I will find that call. Do you want a copy? Email me at Roger at jollyrogertelephone. I can probably find it from the duration.
Hey Lev, that call isn’t popping out at me. What time zone are you in? And if you sent me your caller-id, what are the last four digits of your telephone number?
I’m EST and the last four are 6815.
I’d love a copy of that audio.
Awesome Job! Like the guy above I would for sure like to take a peek at the Asterisk config
For over a decade I’ve been looking to buy software that would be able to do very close to what this is doing(using digital voice recordings running from a PC, I am reading this a tape based process, can that be right?). Selling this as an app or program for under 50$, a few hundred thousand or million buyers and telemarketing comes to a standstill.
