Sorry everyone – the robot finally needed a break. I’m working on his environment so I can get him answering the phone again. Give me a few minutes…

Is he open source can others help host?
I bet I’m not the only one who found out about the bot from the Yahoo article/link. You’re probably getting crushed with requests.
I improvised. I called a number that has been spamming me daily with “google listing” requests and just acted like the bot when I had 10 minutes to kill. LOL. The best part is when he finally asked “Is this an automated system?….Oh man…..” AND THEN I KEPT HIM ON FOR ANOTHER 2 MINUTES BY SAYING ‘NO’ ONCE HAHAHAHAHAHA
Wait, I built a robot to sound like a person. But it wasn’t available so you then *pretended* to be the robot pretending to be a fake person and the caller thought you were a robot? My head hurts.
I imagine if I use the long-distance version of your phone number, a call to your nice robot from Canada will be fine – yes? If so, I’ll be happy to donate.
Yes, Canada should be fine. It’ll be a long distance call to Texas though.
Thanks, captain. No worries on charges. I have a cheap unlimited long distance covering all of Canada and the US. Brilliant idea! Many thanks.
Brilliant! Are you using, say, a Dialogic board connected to a POTS line? Or something like Asterisk with VoIP?
Thank you! Funny you mention Dialogic – in 1995 I won a Dialogic card at a trade show and I WAS SO EXCITED! It was the reason I switched to Windows 95. Alas, I never did get that particular card to work…
But this robot is on Asterisk with unlimited SIP trunks – and boy have I needed those trunks this week. Unfortunately they don’t come with unlimited usage, hence the kickstarter…
If you want to switch to cheaper more flexible hosting, I’d personally recommend nearlyfreespeech.net’s pay-as-you-go hosting. I’m not sure if they would allow you to host your bot there, but you can try…
I’m currently playing $.60 per month for my home-coded site…
Thanks for the tip! I’ll check it out…
