rojo,
Right, it simply won’t work with Android 10. That will take a new app architecture, and I don’t know when we are going to get to that.
Thanks!
Markmark_maraschMemberHey rsegal47,
I just trashed my previous response after talking with “Jolly” Roger Anderson tonight. Google Fi users don’t need the Defender app at all, because it acts like a landline. Here’s how to make it all work:
-First, use Jolly Roger’s simultaneous ring features by using the “Linked to Jolly Roger Phone:” number on your “My Numbers” page as one of your Google Fi numbers that all ring for incoming calls. If you wait for the second ring on incoming calls, Jolly Roger will likely pick up your spam calls automatically before it rings a second time.
-Second, if you are in a call and realize that you’ve picked up a spam caller, simply press “*” and it will ring through to all of your Google Fi numbers, again, including Jolly Roger. Jolly Roger will see the call coming from your phone and will pick up right away, even if it’s not blacklisted or doesn’t have a high reputation score.
Please let us know if this works for you. Again, you don’t need to load the app at all for this to work.

mark_maraschMemberdavidpmax,
It should work fine under Android 9, but please let us know how it goes for you.
Android 10 introduces an architecture change that will still allow the app to be installed but keeps it from being selected as the default phone app, which keeps the app from doing its job.
Thanks!
Markmark_maraschMemberThis should fix the issues in this thread. We’ve found the issue with how different phones report their numbers and made some changes to the code so that the numbers are reported to Jolly Roger’s system in a format that will be recognize.
Version 1.5 incorporates these changes and is now available here:

I’ve confirmed that you have the latest and found out my link was outdated. I’m checking to see if we have logging for your accounts showing what information was passed. There may be some delays in getting a response with the holiday.
Thanks for your patience!

Ethical Developer Groupmark_maraschMemberHey, Brother Jolly Marek, glad to see you on here!
I’m not actually the Jolly Mark who sends out the emails for the beta announcements. Yeah, I finally realized why you asked that question and never got back to you on it…
OK, it’s good to know that Cricket won’t always allow the codes to work. We’ll have to address those with another version. Yes, it would be a good idea to allow retries and list the default and Jolly Roger voicemail numbers. I’m adding these to the backlog for future versions.
Once you got Cricket to set everything up for you, will your test calls work? Do you know if the app is working otherwise?
Thanks!

Please try this updated version, I think it will fix that problem for you:
[Link Removed]We’re trying this out with a few people running into this problem and we’ll be pushing this out to everybody soon.

mark_maraschMemberSorry, phemmert, the app simply won’t run under Android 10. They’ve changed the architecture and we’d have to build our app in a completely different way to make it work.
Mark
mark_maraschMemberscuk23,
Roger has sent you a link for a new version. Please see that email or the one I just sent you for the link.
Thanks!
Markmark_maraschMemberThanks for the suggestions and ideas, Matteo! We will check into that and consider releasing a separate “Summon a Pirate” app.
mark_maraschMemberI think we need to communicate outside the forum and get your cell number, default voicemail, and assigned voicemail. Then we can make sense of the variables that were passed when you tried to set it up before. Can you send an email to me here, so that we aren’t exposing all of your information to the whole community? [edited & removed]

December 9, 2019 at 3:35 pm in reply to: "Unknown error occured. Please try again" when trying to login to App #5939mark_maraschMemberSorry, Mike, we’ll have to pursue a new architecture soon, as more and more people are using Android 10. Thanks for your assistance, as at least we know that the login has been fixed.
mark_maraschMemberscuk23, please try again. Roger hunted down some failed logins in the logs, found an issue, and we believe that it’s fixed.
Please report back on whether the login worked.
Because you are on Android 10, I think you’ll run into a hangup on the ability to select the app as the default phone app, but please report back on whether this is an issue for you.
Thanks!
